The Tropicana

When thinking of classic Las Vegas, look no further than the Tropicana. Situated within walking distance of the MGM Grand, New York New York, Excalibur and the Luxor, the Tropicana offers affordable accomodations while still being within the excitement of the Strip. With pictures of the Rat Pack, showgirls from the 1950′s and painted parrots on the elevator doors, this hotel is rich in Vegas history.

There are several different accomodation options at the Tropicana. There is the 22 story Paradise Tower, the Garden Rooms and the Island Tower. The Paradise Tower is just a short walk from the casino floor. If you are staying in the Island Tower however, this requries a longer walk through the casino, up the escalator, through the Trop Shops, continuing through a bar/lounge area, and then finally reaching the elevators.

Feeling lucky? Try a few spins on the popular Wheel of Fortune slots in the Hot Slots area. If slots aren’t your thing there is the roulette wheel or the poker tables. You can even sign up to be in the winners club and earn points toward free show tickets and other goodies. No matter what time of day it is, there is sure to be a lot of gaming excitement happening in this casino.

There are many places to eat including the Island Buffet, Player’s Deli, and The Garden Cafe. If you are feeling a little hungry after a day of sightseeing and gambling, Player’s Deli features pizza, nachos and sandwiches which you can take to go. The Buffet offers a large array of food so that everyone will be able to find something they enjoy. If you feel like a big meal, make sure to get in line early for the Buffet, as the line can stretch back into the Trop Shops.

The Trop Shops are located in the corridor between the casino and the Island Tower. At the Trop Shops you can purchase unique items such as a dollar bill with Darth Vader’s face, health and beauty supplies and movie memorabilia. There is a magic shop with a magician that will amaze you with disappearing coins and floating dollar bills. Looking for jewelry? There is a “gold by the inch” shop where you can choose between silver or gold chain and create a bracelet or necklace of your own design.

If you are looking to relax, the outdoor/indoor pool area has cascading waterfalls and lush greenery. You can even play blackjack at swim-up tables that are in the pool!

Overall, the Tropicana offers a classic Vegas experience at an affordable price.

Caesars Palace

Filed under: Uncategorized — admin @ 12:38 am

When you think of Las Vegas one of the first hotels that comes to mind is Caesars Palace. This hotel has just about anything you could possibly want in a Vegas vacation. With over three thousand rooms there is more then enough room to accommodate anyone. Opened in 1966 it is one of the most successful and longest standing hotels on the main strip. While other hotels come and go, Caesars continues to stand and draw people in.

One of the considerations when looking at hotels in Las Vegas is what are the gambling and gaming facilities like. Bar none Caesars has one of the most popular gaming floors in all of Las Vegas. They have hosted events like the World Series of Poker as well as WPT events. If you have not played a hand at Caesars than you can not really consider yourself to be a gambler.

After the gambling the next most important activity in Las Vegas is eating. Here again Caesars has very few rivals with restaurants from noted celebrity chefs Wolfgang Puck and Bobby Flay on the premises. There are many other high quality eateries right in the Palace and you will not have to go far to find a high quality meal worthy of a king, or in this case an emperor.

Another important consideration when looking at your resort destination is what kind of shopping is available. Caesars has a connected mall called The Forum Shops at Caesars. With over 160 shops catering to luxury this is one of the biggest attractions in all of Vegas. Over six hundred thousand square feet of shopping space await you and even the most addicted shopper will find it hard to satiate their appetite.

Lastly is the entertainment aspect. Whether you are looking to see a top rated fight or a big time production, everyone dreams of playing Caesars palace, except for maybe Evil Knieval. Recent acts have included Elton John, Celine Dion, and Cirque de Soliel. Currently Bette Midler will be performing in replacement of Dion. She is expected to do about 100 shows a year. In addition to her Elton John will be doing his Red Piano show fifty times opposite of Midler. It has also been rumored that Cher may be staging a farewell tour and will be playing exclusively at Caesars.

In Las Vegas there are very few, if any, hotels that can compete with Caesars on any level. Take a trip out and you too may get to see the Emperor and Cleopatra in all of their glory.
