Cheap Hotels in Pittsburgh
Pittsburgh is not necessarily the tourist destination that Pennsylvania’s other major city, Philadelphia, is – it lacks those monuments that represent key points in the country’s history – but with two major universities, a bustling downtown, and a vibrant cultural scene that has rebounded from the city’s days as little more than a steel production site, there is plenty for a visitor to see and do. And luckily for tourists, most of the hotels in the city happen to be downtown – and this includes many of the cheap hotels in Pittsburgh.
Of course, as is the case with most big cities, most of the hotels in the city center are going to be a little more expensive than those located further out from downtown. Still, because this is not as big a tourist destination city as some others in the area you will likely still be able to find cheap hotels in Pittsburgh right in the city center – or at least nearby. No matter where your hotel is, be sure that it is either within walking distance of the things you want to see or there is a bus or light rail station nearby.
Pittsburgh has emerged from its steel mill past to reveal a city that boasts a rich art and music scene. There are several notable museums, including several either dedicated to famous Pittsburgh natives or at least funded by them. There is the Andy Warhol Museum, the Carnegie Museum of Natural History, and the Heinz Chapel. On the University of Pittsburgh campus, the so-called Cathedral of Learning is great for a visit even if you have nothing else to do with the university. And do not forget about the three major league sports teams based here!
Some of the cheap hotels in Pittsburgh which you may want to look into are Doubletree Hotel & Suites Pittsburgh City Center (downtown, 308 rooms, standard rooms & suites, free WiFi access, on-site spa, on-site restaurant, free shuttle service throughout downtown, fitness center, indoor pool), Courtyard Pittsburgh Downtown (downtown, 172 rooms, free WiFi & internet access, on-site restaurant, hot breakfast buffet available, fitness center, laundry facilities), Sheraton Station Square Hotel (short walk from downtown, free WiFi & internet access, indoor pool, indoor whirlpool, fitness center, laundry service, sauna & steam room), Hampton Inn & Suites Pittsburgh Downtown (downtown, 143 rooms, indoor pool, fitness center, laundry facilities, free hot breakfast buffet), and Hilton Pittsburgh (downtown, 713 rooms, free WiFi access, on-site restaurant, pool, fitness center, pet friendly hotel).
