Krakow

Krakow is the major city in the south of Poland, and one of the country’s major tourist destinations. Although the city did not escape entirely from the devastation of World War II, many of the historic buildings did manage to get through unscathed, so the historic old town center is still just about as interesting to visit today as it was in centuries past. In fact, the city is on the UNESCO list of World Heritage Sites, and the good news for travelers is that there are some cheap hotels in Krakow that are not far from the historic center.

As with most popular tourist cities, the bulk of the cheap hotels in Krakow are not going to be located right in the center near everything you want to see and do. Those areas are almost always reserved for the more expensive hotels, and in Krakow that is no different. There are, however, several budget hotel options that are a short walk from the city’s sights. Just be sure that if your hotel is not within walking distance of the main attractions that you are near a bus or tram stop so you can get where you want to go from your hotel.

Krakow’s old city is where you will likely spend the bulk of your time, and with good reason. This area contains the Royal Castle and Cathedral sitting atop a riverside hill, several pretty public squares, and some historic buildings worth touring. Krakow is also home to quite a few notable museums and galleries, and the old Jewish district of the city is a sobering reminder of World War II. This neighborhood was the setting for many of the parts of the “Schindler’s List” story.

A few of the cheap hotels in Krakow worth looking into for your visit are Hotel Kazimierz (in the old Jewish district, walking distance to Old Town, 35 rooms, most rooms with AC, car parking available, laundry service available), Hotel Wyspianski (in Old Town, 158 rooms, on-site restaurant & casino, car parking available, laundry service available, internet access available), Batory Hotel (in downtown Krakow, 29 rooms, free parking, WiFi access available, on-site restaurant), Hotel Florian (in the city center, 19 rooms & 8 apartments, WiFi access available, car parking available, free breakfast, airport transfer available), and Logos Hotel (in Old Town, 49 rooms, garage parking available, internet access available, sauna & spa services, free breakfast).
