There are lots of diverse and varied neighborhoods within San Francisco, and most of them will have at least a few budget accommodation options in them. But some of these areas, while interesting to visit, may not be where you want to sleep. Be aware, for instance, that Fisherman’s Wharf – the city’s most popular tourist destination – can be pretty noisy well into the night. Light sleepers might not like a hotel in this area. If you do want to be near here, however, the San Remo Hotel is a few blocks from the main tourist area and offers decent rates.
In the famous Haight-Ashbury area, the Metro Hotel‘s rooms are nothing spectacular, but the prices are good – especially for the city center.
