Copenhagen

Denmark’s capital city of Copenhagen is a busy and cosmopolitan city that is home to more than a million people, and yet because of its location it is often off the radar of European travelers. This is a shame, because the people who do visit find it to be one of the most pleasant cities on the continent. It is a great place for so-called “culture vultures” because of its fantastic museums and attractions, and locals are notoriously tolerant of anyone who is on society’s fringes. Unfortunately, cheap hotels in Copenhagen may be harder to find than you might like.

The cost of living, let alone traveling, in Denmark can be high, so finding cheap hotels in Copenhagen that are on a par price-wise with cheap hotels in other parts of Europe might be tricky. Still, if you are visiting in the low season or you are willing to look for accommodation options that are not right in the city center then you can typically find better deals.

Luckily for anyone hunting for cheap hotels in Copenhagen, the city is well-served by public transportation – so even if you have to look a bit further afield for your bed you should be able to get around the city with ease as long as your hotel is near a metro or bus stop. This is especially good news if you have looked at a map of the city – it is huge and the downtown area is only a tiny part of it! So no matter where you find yourself staying, you will want to get used to using public transportation to make the most of your time in the city.

A few of the cheap hotels in Copenhagen you might want to check out are Hotel Bethel (in the city center, by canal and harbor, hostel feel with private rooms, private bathrooms, continental breakfast available, former hostel for seamen), Hotel Fox (in city center, unique hotel run by Volkswagen, 61 rooms, every room individually decorated, filled with modern art, free high-speed internet throughout hotel, flatscreen TVs, breakfast buffet, roof terrace, iPods and bicycles for rent), Hotel Danmark (in city center, near Tivoli Gardens, dates from 18th century, carbon-neutral hotel, cable TV, free internet in all rooms, breakfast buffet available, private inner courtyard, free use of spa and fitness center nearby), Hotel Opera (in the city center, 91 rooms, English style decor, WiFi access available, satellite TV, private bathrooms, breakfast is available), and CABINN City Hotel (in city center, behind Tivoli Garden, 352 rooms, private bathrooms, free internet, breafkast available, parking available).
