Tuscany

Tuscany is a beautiful Italian region, spreading over 8,880 sq miles and famous for the beautiful cities, incredible food and amazing wines. Visitors flock here for the Renaissance art in Florence, the lovely beach in Viareggio or to visit the beautiful UNESCO protected sites in Pisa or San Gimignano. As it happens with all popular tourist destinations, finding cheap hotels in Tuscany requires a bit of creativity.

Tuscany is one of the most popular tourist destinations in Italy. Tuscany’s capital is Florence, one of the most beautiful Italian cities. Visiting the popular tourist sites is easy since they are located within walking distance of each other. In general, the city is best navigated on foot. Duomo di Firenze is a very beautiful cathedral. Right next to it, there’s Giotto’s Tower, which offers incredible views of the city. Other popular sights include the museums, Palazzo Vecchio and Ponte Vecchio. Another Tuscan gem is San Gimignano, a beautiful medieval city, famous for its towers. There’s something interesting to do and see in each of the Tuscan cities.

It would make sense to try to find cheap hotels in Tuscany located close to the historic sites in the city you are visiting. However, in most cases, this is going to break your budget. Two or three star hotels close to the attractions can offer some good prices, but it all depends on your budget. One good idea is to look for hotels located further from the center. Or you can choose a smaller city as your base and then plan the day trips from there. Generally speaking, smaller and less crowded cities are great for finding good bargains. Also, keep in mind that the tourist season usually starts around Easter and ends in October with July and August being the most crowded (and expensive) months to visit Tuscany.

Some of the budget places to check out in Tuscany include: Royal Victoria Hotel , Pisa (3 star, buffet breakfast and taxes included in the room price, original furniture, old-fashioned sized rooms), Hotel Basilea , Florence (3 star, in the heart of Florence, 38 rooms, free internet) and Hotel Bel Soggiorno , San Gimignano (3 star, in the old town, 21 rooms, AC, TV, phone).
