Sharm El Sheikh

When you think about visiting a place that is known for being a popular resort town, you might assume that there is no way to vacation there on a budget. But thankfully, even with a heavily visited resort town you can still find cheap hotels in Sharm el-Sheikh, for instance! This port on the Sinai Peninsula boasts not only amazing beaches but also some world-class diving.

Now, when we say cheap hotels in Sharm el-Sheikh, you might have to adjust what you normally think of when you think the word “cheap” – but still, you do not have to be a high roller to vacation here. You may consider staying in a hotel that is not right on the beach, which may help you save a bit of money on your accommodation. Keep in mind you may end up taking a taxi to get into town if you are staying too far away, however, so remember to work that into your travel budget.

If you are unfamiliar with the area, it is the words “Naama Bay” that you want to look for – this is the center of most of the tourist activity in Sharm el Sheikh. Hotels that are right on Naama Bay are likely to be more expensive, and hotels that say they are a short walk from Naama Bay could be less expensive overall. You may also find last minute bargains on hotels which are right on the bay, so keep an eye out for those – because the beach is where you want to be.

Most of the budget hotels in Sharm el-Sheikh do not have their own websites, so if you want to be sure to get a room in one of them you might have to call them directly (or book your first night in a bigger hotel and then go in person to check out the cheaper ones once you get there). Some noteworthy cheap hotels in Sharm el-Sheikh are the Sanafir Hotel (three-star hotel in Naama Bay area), Pigeons House (no website, popular with divers; tel. 20-62-600996), Logaina Sharm Resort Hotel (on Shark’s Bay, suites are great for families or traveling groups), and Creative Badawia Hotel and Resort (located 6 km away from Naama Bay, has a free shuttle bus to get you there).
