Puerto Vallarta

Puerto Vallarta is one of Mexico’s most popular tourist destinations, partly because of its fantastic beaches and warm weather, and partly because even though it has become one of the country’s best known beach resort towns it still feels like Mexico and not just like a cookie-cutter beach town. And perhaps the best news for budget travelers is that because this is such a popular destination that means there are plenty of cheap hotels in Puerto Vallarta.

While the area that is considered the main “hotel zone” may have more of the luxury hotel and condominium accommodation options, if you are willing to stay a bit further from everyone else you can find lots of cheap hotels in Puerto Vallarta. To increase the number of budget accommodation options you can choose from, you may also want to look at the motels and B&Bs in the city – especially in the Old Town area – which may offer great deals and a more charming and personal experience to boot.

The beaches of Puerto Vallarta are the main attraction, and it is easy to see why. The bay is one of the world’s largest, and the beaches themselves are golden and inviting. But nearby there are also mountains which beg to be explored when you have had enough of sunbathing. In fact, with all the outdoor activities that are available between the water and the mountains, there is enough to keep you occupied – then when you throw in a stroll or two through the Old Town and all the shopping you can do, it is a very full vacation, indeed.

A few of the cheap hotels in Puerto Vallarta you can choose from for your trip are Belmar Hotel (downtown, 300 meters from beaches, 30 rooms, free WiFi & internet access, air conditioning costs extra, some rooms with kitchenettes), Hotel Encino (one block from the beach, 75 rooms, all rooms with air conditioning, some rooms with private balcony, outdoor pool, on-site restaurant & bar), Hotel Villa del Mar (in Old Town, short walk to the beach, 49 rooms, some rooms with kitchenettes, some rooms with private balcony), Hotel Rio (downtown, all rooms with air conditioning, all rooms with balcony, some rooms with kitchenettes, on-site cafe, outdoor pool, internet access available), and Hotel Emperador (in Old Town, 3 minutes from downtown, near beach, 69 rooms, outdoor pool, 2 jacuzzis, 2 rooftop sun decks, free WiFi access).
