Cape Town

South Africa is one of those countries that has more than one city serving as its capital. In South Africa’s case, the capital duties are spread between three cities – Pretoria is the administrative capital, Bloemfontein the judicial, and Cape Town the legislative. Cape Town also happens to be the country’s second-largest city behind Johannesburg, and one of the most popular areas of the country to visit. The city is surrounded by gorgeous scenery, and there is plenty to do in and around the metropolitan area, making one of the cheap hotels in Cape Town a great home base for a vacation.

Luckily for truly budget travelers, Cape Town is full of genuine backpacker hostels. But if you have graduated from the hostel scene, there is an embarrassment of riches in other levels of accommodation as well. This city has everything from super luxe hotels and resorts all the way down to the many budget hotels in Cape Town. If you are having trouble finding what you are looking for right in the city, you can look in one of the suburbs which sometimes deliver more for the same price.

Also consider looking at more than just the cheap hotels in Cape Town, as the city is absolutely brimming with other choices. For instance, the words “bed and breakfast” or “guest house” can be indicators of boutique hotel quality at a lower price – and they are especially great if you are a people person, as the type who run B&Bs and guest houses are often very friendly and eager to meet travelers. If this sounds appealing to you, be sure to keep an eye out for those titles (instead of just “hotel”) when searching for accommodation.

Some of the cheap hotels in Cape Town you may want to consider are Cactusberry Lodge B&B (central location, private bathrooms, some rooms with kitchenette, internet access available, secured parking, airport transfers available, continental or full English breakfast included), Bayflowers Guest House (central location, outdoor pool, all rooms with private terrace or balcony, all rooms en-suite, roof terrace, free WiFi available, common TV lounge, breakfast included, parking garage available), Protea Hotel Sea Point (in Sea Point suburb, 124 rooms, all en-suite, WiFi available, A/C, on-site bar & restaurant, satellite TV, parking available, swimming pool), Sitara Country Lodge (in Noordhoek suburb, 30 minute drive from Cape Town, swimming pool, all rooms en-suite, free continental breakfast, satellite TV), and Tudor Hotel (in city center, near waterfront, 26 rooms, on-site restaurant, all rooms en-suite, color TVs in all rooms, not all rooms with A/C, internet access available, covered parking available).
