Many capital cities are well known tourist attractions, and Spain’s capital of Madrid is no exception. It is the biggest city in the country, and chock full of things to see and do. Although the city may be famous for its amazing galleries and museums, it is equally popular as a place to party all night long – so you will need to save your energy for at least a little late night entertainment, even if you are visiting for the art. With that in mind, be sure to find yourself comfortable cheap hotels in Madrid for your stay.

There are plenty of cheap hotels in Madrid to choose from, even in the city center, which is great news for travelers who prefer to settle into their room and then walk everywhere. But even if you do not find a hotel in your price range within walking distance of everything you want to do and see, Madrid’s public transportation system is really helpful. There are buses, but even more efficient is the Madrid subway, which can help you get around the whole city. So if your hotel is not ideally situated in the city center, just make sure it is near a metro stop.

As mentioned, Madrid is a city for art lovers. The famous Prado museum is one of the most important collections of art in the world, but that is only the beginning. Even if you are not into art, be sure to check out the more well-known museums and galleries. In addition to the museums, Madrid’s big and beautiful plazas are great places for hanging out and people watching, the nightlife is spectacular, and you cannot leave the city without checking out some Flamenco. Sports fans will also want to seeif any of the Madrid soccer teams have home games scheduled.

A few of the cheap hotels in Madrid worth considering for your trip are Abba Atocha Hotel (in the city center, on-site restaurant, WiFi access available, air conditioning), Hostal Brisas (basic no-frills hotel, 50 meters from Puerta del Sol in city center, close to 3 subway stations, rooms for 1-3 people), Hostal Plaza Dort (200 meters from the Puerta del Sol in city center, all rooms air-conditioned), Hostal San Martin (11 rooms, in city center, most rooms en suite, on 4th floor, building has an elevator), and Hostal Villagarcia (50 meters from Gran Via in city center, free WiFi, air conditioning, laundry facilities).
