Maui

Maui is one of the islands in the state of Hawaii, and it is extremely popular as a vacation destination. It is the second largest of the Hawaiian islands, and has almost the same population as The Big Island (although far less land area), but this place is more about nature than it is people. Most visitors come for the many opportunities to get and enjoy the great outdoors in all its splendor, and although there are probably more high-end hotels than cheap hotels in Maui, you can still have a Maui vacation without spending a fortune.

Yes, while many of the beachfront resort hotels may be out of the reach of the truly budget travelers among us, if you can handle being a short walk or drive from the beach then you can find plenty of cheap hotels in Maui to choose from. The main tourist centers are mainly in West Maui and the towns of Kaanapali and Lahaina, but some of the island’s other towns also have a selection (albeit smaller) of budget accommodation options as well. Unfortunately, public transit in Maui is not terribly good; but if you have a car you will be able to get anywhere you want to go no matter where your hotel is located.

As mentioned, one of the main appeals of Maui is the great outdoors, and it is almost an understatement to say that the outdoors in Maui is simply “great.” In many cases, it is stunning. And with all the mountain biking, diving, snorkeling, hiking, whale watching, and exploring you can do, both in Maui’s amazing parks and elsewhere, there are ample opportunities for you to get really well aquainted with Maui’s version of Mother Nature.

Some of the cheap hotels in Maui you should consider are Maui Seaside Hotel (in Kahului, right on ocean, outdoor swimming pools, laundry facilities, on-site restaurant, WiFi access available, parking available, 5 miles to nearest swimming beach), The Plantation Inn (in Lahaina, 19 rooms, WiFi access available, on-site restaurant, two blocks from waterfront, swimming pool), Maui Beach Hotel (in Kahului, free internet access, 167 rooms, free parking, outdoor pool, laundry facilities, on-site restaurant & bar), and Garden Gate B&B (in Lahaina, 1 mile from historic Lahaina town, free WiFi access, laundry facilities, BBQ area for guest use, all rooms feature a garden or mountain or ocean view, free parking, free breakfast, boogie boards and beach chairs/mats available to guests for no charge).
