Ho Chi Minh City

The Vietnamese city formerly known as Saigon and now known as Ho Chi Minh City is one of the primary tourist cities in the country. It is Vietnam’s largest city as well, and was once the capital of South Vietnam. Sometimes abbreviated to the initials HCMC, and sometimes still called Saigon by locals and visitors alike, it is an important part of any tour of Vietnam. And, as with many other cities in Asia, tourists are lucky to find lots of cheap hotels in Ho Chi Minh City.

Some of the places with the word “hotel” in the name are actually more backpacker style hostels, so be sure to read the descriptions carefully before you book. And really, even if you are traditionally more of a dorm-room hostel person, you may want to think about the cheap hotels in Ho Chi Minh City instead – they are so inexpensive, you will get the perks of a hotel room for just about the same price (and often less) as a bunk in a dorm room in some other cities.

Many of the sights in Ho Chi Minh City are related to the Vietnam War, including the War Remnants Museum and the Reunification Palace, and they are both interesting and educational. The city is also home to several pagoda-style temples which are worth a visit, and the markets in Ho Chi Minh City are great places to wander – even if you do not plan to buy anything! But if you do want to do some shopping, be sure to brush up on your haggling skills – you will need them.

Some of the cheap hotels in Ho Chi Minh City which you should check out are Duna Hotel (short distance from city center, 40 rooms, all rooms en-suite, all rooms with AC, internet access available, laundry facilities, airport transfer available, breakfast included), Bi Saigon Hotel (in the city center, 2 on-site restaurants, WiFi & internet access available, breakfast included, laundry service available, airport transfer available), An An Hotel (in the city center, 22 rooms, free WiFi & internet access, all rooms with AC, airport transfer available, laundry service available), Nguyen Khang Hotel (in the city center, 13 rooms, all rooms with AC, free internet access, currency exchange available, laundry service available, airport transfer available), and Xuan-Spring Hotel (in the city center, laundry service available, internet access available, all rooms with AC, all rooms en-suite).
