Stockholm

Sweden’s capital blends in a very interesting way the charm of the Old Town, the 14 islands and the numerous parks. In Stockholm you can really experience (probably) the freshest air in the entire Europe. The city is cosmopolitan and lively, offering a lot of things to do. What comes harder though is finding cheap hotels in Stockholm.

Don’t get us wrong: there are budget hotels in this lovely city, only that the prices don’t exactly “feel” like they should belong in a cheap hotel. Most attractions are found in the inner city so it only makes sense to want to stay there. The Old Town (Gamla Stan) represents the historic center, dominated by the Royal Palace and the Parliament. As it happens in all big cities, if you stay within spitting distance of the major attractions, you are paying for it, so finding cheap hotels in Stockholm’s inner city is quite an adventure.

The inner city is filled with interesting places to city and you can find some incredible places in the suburbs as well. And speaking of the suburbs, although some are home to some poor neighborhoods, you can find some nicely hidden gems here: from budget hotels, to restaurants and pubs. If you are looking for a truly cheap place to stay, your best bet is a hostel in Stockholm . Otherwise, look for 2 or 3 star hotels further from the city center or even in the suburbs.

Some budget hotels in Stockholm include Hotel Micro (1 star, city center, small rooms, basic), Alexandra Hotel (located in the south central island, 3 star, wi-fi, breakfast included in the room price, 69 rooms) and Rex Hotel (in the heart of the music and media industry, close to a lot of restaurants, 56 rooms, TV, private bathroom).
