Vancouver

The city of Vancouver is not only one of the coolest cities in Canada, it is routinely ranked as one of the world’s most liveable cities. An unusually high percentage of the people who visit end up coming back to live there – or at least wishing they could do that! With lots to see and do and quite literally something for everyone to enjoy, it is no wonder that so many visitors turn into residents. But for those of you who are just visiting (for now!), the good news is that not only are there plenty of places to live here, there are also cheap hotels in Vancouver, too.

Now, generally speaking, most of the hotels in the city are probably going to be more expensive than you might expect. There are certain parts of town which have higher concentrations of cheap hotels in Vancouver, but on the whole, if you are not interested in looking into the hostel options in the city, you should budget a bit more for your accommodation than you might otherwise – especially if you want to be within walking distance of the main attractions. If you are not right in the center of things, just make sure your hotel is near a bus or SkyTrain station so you can easily get around the city.

Vancouver’s position on an inlet, near the mountains and the ocean, makes it a haven for outdoors enthusiasts who can take advantage of the many activities in the area – including skiing and snowboarding in winter as well as hiking and mountain biking in the summer. But the city is so cosmopolitan and modern that nature lovers also get to experience great museums, world-class restaurants, interesting shops, and theatre and music venues, just to name a few. It is the ideal vacation destination for the person who wants it all.

Some of the cheap hotels in Vancouver worth looking into for your visit are Columbia Hotel (in Gastown, weekly & monthly rates available, all rooms have shared bathrooms), The Sylvia Hotel (located on English Bay near Stanley Park, 5 minutes from downtown, 120 rooms, historic building, on-site restaurant & bar), The Listel Hotel (a boutique art hotel, in downtown Vancouver, 119 rooms & 10 suites, on-site fitness center, internet access available, free WiFi, on-site restaurant & bar), Burrard Inn (in downtown Vancouver, 71 rooms, on-site coffee shop), and The Buchan Hotel (in downtown Vancouver, laundry facilities available, vending machines, free coffee, cheapest rooms with shared bathrooms, kids 12 & under stay free).
