Atlanta

Atlanta is an enormous city, the capital of the state of Georgia and home of the busiest airport on the planet. This is a city with an important place in the history of the civil rights movement, as well as the headquarters of several national and international businesses (many of which are tourist attractions themselves). This is a city-lover’s vacation destination, with great shopping and dining options, and a wide range of accommodation choices – including lots of cheap hotels in Atlanta.

Because of the size of the city, it is better to concentrate on the things you want to see and do during your trip and then try to find cheap hotels in Atlanta nearby. Some parts of town are nicer than others, and those areas may have more upscale hotels, but most areas will have at least a few budget hotels to choose from. And no matter where you decide to stay, as long as you are close to a stop on the excellent MARTA public transportation network, you will be able to reach any other part of the city that you want.

Visitors to Atlanta can tour the King Historic District, which includes Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.’s birth home and his tomb. Both the news network CNN and Coca-Cola have their headquarters in Atlanta, and both are open for regular tours. There are several professional sports teams based in Atlanta, and it can be a real highlight of a trip to this city to catch a game. Additionally, there are several museums and galleries in Atlanta which can be interesting as well.

A few of the cheap hotels in Atlanta worth taking into consideration are Hotel Indigo (boutique hotel in Midtown, photo murals on the walls, free internet access), Regency Suites Hotel (award-winning boutique hotel in Midtown, next to a MARTA station, laundry facilities & service, underground parking, free daily breakfast, free dinner Mon-Thurs, free internet access), Hampton Inn & Suites Atlanta (in Downtown, free WiFi, free breakfast, 3½ blocks from the aquarium), Emory Inn (107 rooms, B&B-style inn, next to Emory Conference Center, free parking, outdoor pool, free shuttle to Emory Campus and Emory Hospital, on-site restaurant), and Holiday Inn Express Atlanta/Buckhead (87 rooms, in Buckhead, all suites with fully equipped kitchens, free WiFi, free continental breakfast).
