Whistler

Located near Vancouver in British Columbia, Whistler is a popular ski destination. And a former Olympics location, as it hosted most of the ski and sliding events during the 2010 Winter Olympics. Whistler has been a popular ski destination since late 1960s so it shouldn’t come as a surprise that finding cheap hotels in Whistler can be quite an adventure in itself.

Whistler is all about great snow and skiing. The Whistler-Blackcomb ski area comprises over 200 runs serviced by 37 lifts. It’s the largest ski resort in North America and constantly ranks among the top 3 places to ski in North America. If skiing is not your thing, then don’t miss a ride to the top of the mountain (by gondola) for some incredible views. During summer, golf is a very popular sport and hiking is excellent here. Rock climbing is also a popular activity. The lake is also a popular spot to relax during summer.

Accommodation wise, you should consider that the closest you are to the runs and lifts, the more you will pay for your room. Whistler is easily negotiable on foot so it doesn’t matter that much in which part of the city you are staying. If you plan to find cheap hotels in Whistler, then try to look for some located within a mile of the gondola or lift stations.

Some of the budget hotels worth trying in Whistler include: Southside Lodge (close to the gondola station but far from the restaurants) , Whistler Holiday Inn SunSpree Resort (5 min walk to the lifts, studio with kitchen, coffee maker, phone, internet) and Whistler Cascade Lodge (15 min walk to the lifts, suites with kitchen, AC, coffee maker).
