Houston

Texas’ largest city is Houston, and this is a city that is not only big in terms of population – it is also spread out over a huge land area as well. So, unfortunately for visitors, you could think you’ve found some great deals on cheap hotels in Houston only to arrive and find you have mistakenly booked yourself into the Houston hinterlands, miles from anything you want to see or do.

With a little advance planning and research, however, you can find cheap hotels in Houston that are not so far away from the city center. Of course, with a city as spread out as Houston is, there are several neighborhoods to choose from when you are considering where to stay. It all depends on what you are in Houston for!

Downtown Houston proper is where you probably want to stay if you are in town for business, but there are very few budget lodging options downtown. Uptown Houston has a few cheap hotels, and the added bonus of the big Galleria shopping center. Other areas you might want to look at are the Montrose area (some residential areas, also the main area for Houston’s museums) and the area around the Med Center and Rice (including Hermann Park).

Some of the cheap hotels in Houston worth looking at are Courtyard Houston by the Galleria (near some of Houston’s best shopping, a few minutes from downtown), Holiday Inn & Suites Medical Center (offers suites with full kitchens, Houston light rail within walking distance to get downtown easily), Holiday Inn Select Greenway Plaza (near downtown Houston, Galleria and medical center), AmeriSuites Greenspoint IAH (8 miles from Houston Intercontinental Airport and 10 miles from downtown Houston), and Hampton Inn & Suites Medical Center (near Medical Center and light rail to get downtown easily).
