The capital city of Chile, called either Santiago de Chile or simply Santiago, is much more than just the main international gateway to the country. It is a popular tourist destination itself, with great museums, galleries, churches, parks, and monuments to visit. Additionally, it is a great place in which to base yourself for day trips into the nearby majestic Andes Mountains, or to go on a wine-tasting trip to sample some of Chile’s famous vinicultural products.
