Santiago

The capital city of Chile, called either Santiago de Chile or simply Santiago, is much more than just the main international gateway to the country. It is a popular tourist destination itself, with great museums, galleries, churches, parks, and monuments to visit. Additionally, it is a great place in which to base yourself for day trips into the nearby majestic Andes Mountains, or to go on a wine-tasting trip to sample some of Chile’s famous vinicultural products. Any way you look at it, staying in one of the cheap hotels in Santiago is a great idea for a great vacation.

The city is big enough that you will have to check out a few neighborhoods to pick from the cheap hotels in Santiago, and then once you do you will need to make sure the hotel you choose is near either a metro or bus station so that it will be easy to get around the city from wherever you are. Also note that some neighborhoods are well-known for their fantastic nightlife scenes – while this is great if you want to go out and party, it might not be ideal to have your hotel located next door to or above a night club!

As mentioned, there are plenty of great tourist attractions in Santiago de Chile. The city center is a great place to explore on foot, as it has many charming shops tucked between the many museums and art galleries. There are also several lovely parks in the city if you crave a bit of a break from concrete and steel. Plus, with the stunning Andes Mountains and all the great Chilean wineries located a short drive from the city center, it is easy to get out of the city for a day trip or two during your stay.

A few of the cheap hotels in Santiago which you may want to consider for your trip are Chil Hotel (close to Manuel Montt metro station, rooms sleep between 1-5 people, internet access available, laundry service, on-site cafeteria), Hotel Imperio (downtown Santiago, laundry service, on-site bar & restaurant, internet access available), Hotel Parlamento (near Forestal Park & Fine Arts Museum, 66 rooms, on-site restaurant, laundry service, internet access available, airport transfer available, city tours available), Hotel Panamericano (downtown Santiago, 145 rooms, internet access available, free WiFi in the lobby, on-site restaurant), and Riviera Hotel (near Cerro Santa Lucia in downtown Santiago, 40 rooms, on-site bar & restaurant, cafeteria, laundry service, self-parking available).
