Nice

It has been said countless times that the Mediterranean beach hotspot of Nice is nice – and even though it is a tired saying, it still holds true. As if the azure water and long stretches of beach were not enough to draw you to this city, it also serves as a great home base for exploring the popular French area of Provence as well as the city-state of Monaco. There are plenty of attractions in the city as well, but the primary item on your to-do list should be to find your bit of beach to lie on. And you will be pleased to know that in addition to the big resort hotels, there are also cheap hotels in Nice.

As you might expect, the hotels which enjoy the best views of the Mediterranean Sea and the beaches are going to cost more to stay in. But do not assume that you will need to stay a long bus ride from the beach in order to find cheap hotels in Nice – on the contrary, there are plenty of hotels in all price ranges in downtown Nice which are just a short walk from the beach and most of the things you will want to see and do in the city.

For many of the day-trips you may want to take, including Monaco, the nearby residence of many rich and famous folks, you can easily hop on a train in Nice and never need a car. But for exploring much of Provence outside the major towns, you may need to rent a car. Either way, making one of the cheap hotels in Nice your home base for visiting this area is an excellent option – you get the benefit of a budget hotel in a popular beach town, and it also happens to be close to lots of other places worth seeing.

Some of the cheap hotels in Nice you should check out are Anis Hotel (close to the Promenade des Anglais, 42 rooms, swimming pool, WiFi and internet access available, breakfast buffet), Hotel Meyerbeer Beach (50 meters from the beach, 16 rooms, free WiFi and internet, beach towels available, all rooms have kitchenette), Hotel Roosevelt (49 rooms, 3 minute walk from the beach, free coffee all day, laundry service available, free WiFi and internet), Hotel Comte de Nice (50 rooms, a 7 minute tram ride from the beach, buffet breakfast available, both hotel rooms and apartments available), and Mercure Nice Grimaldi (84 rooms, 300 meters from the Promenade des Anglais, WiFi and internet access available, on-site bar, pets allowed).
