Spain's Canary Islands are popular year-round for their temperate climate, gorgeous beaches, and excellent night life. The biggest island is Tenerife, and although the biggest tourist crowds tend to come from Germany and the United Kingdom, it makes a fabulous beach vacation destination for anyone. The Canaries allow you to experience a tropical holiday without leaving the comforts of a European country - and few destinations are as tourist-ready, with lots of cheap hotels in Tenerife to choose from.

The capital city of Santa Cruz is one place to look for cheap hotels in Tenerife, but the city is also full of big and expensive resort hotels. The city of Las Americas is purpose built as a tourist destination, so is chock full of hotels in every budget range. It is, in fact, almost entirely made up of hotels and restaurants, so it should not be hard to find yourself a room at a reasonable price. If you are looking for a room in a particular area, however, you will want to book early.

Clearly, the beaches in Tenerife are the biggest attraction - and this island has all the requisite water sports on offer, too, including some excellent diving. But what you might not expect from an island destination is that it is also home to the tallest mountain in all of Spain - El Teide. While it is technically a dormant volcano, it is still not terribly accessible to tour groups. The town of La Laguna is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and is a great place to explore.
