When people hear the word “Oxford,” it is not surprising that they often think of dictionaries, university and a truly proper English accent. This city is home of England’s oldest university, which is also one of the world’s most famous houses of higher education, but the city itself dates back to the 8th century. Visitors today remain captivated by this charming town, and it is easy to see why. Unfortunately, budget accommodation options here are a bit limited – but there are some cheap hotels in Oxford you can stay in.

Many of the cheaper beds in Oxford are going to be in B&Bs and guest houses, so if you want to expand your search to include those accommodation options you may be able to find some really charming places to stay. These will often only have a few rooms, however, so they can be harder to find vacancies in – especially during the high season. And if B&Bs are not your style, the cheap hotels in Oxford are just what you would expect from a traditional hotel. But even “cheap hotels” in this city may cost more than you might expect. This is no off-the-beaten-path destination, after all.

While in many places, visiting the local university would not be on a tourist’s to-do list, in Oxford the university is one of the main attractions. There are several famous colleges, libraries, and churches that are part of the university, but even outside the university there are many sights worth touring. Oxford is home to a few interesting museums, nice theatres, and beautiful parks, and if you’re lucky enough to be in the city during the summer you will have to try your hand at punting your way down the river. A word of warning – it’s not as easy as it looks!

Some of the cheap hotels in Oxford you may want to check out are The Balkan Lodge Oxford (5 minute bus ride from city center, 13 rooms, free WiFi access, free full English or vegetarian breakfast, fully licensed bar on-site), Victoria Hotel Oxford (10-15 minute walk or 3 minute bus ride from city center, 20 rooms, free breakfast, WiFi & internet access available, free secure parking), Mount Pleasant Hotel (located in Headington near Oxford, 9 rooms, free continental or full English breakfast, children must be 8 years old in order to stay, private car parking available), Royal Oxford Hotel (2 minute walk from city center, laundry service available, internet access available), and The Falcon B&B (near the city center, 2 Victorian town houses combined into one, 16 rooms, all rooms en suite, shared guest lounge, free full English breakfast).
