Although Capri is more famous, Ischia is undoubtedly the most beautiful island in the gulf of Naples. It’s also the largest, spreading over 47 sq km and offering 32 km of coastline. The beaches are the main attraction along with the volcanic thermal spas. The island is a preferred destination for locals and it gets really crowded during July and August. Despite all that, it’s possible to find cheap hotels in Ischia.

The largest city on the island is Ischia, which has two different centers: Ischia Ponte and Ischia Porto. The island’s natural beauty is a magnet for Europeans. Besides the beaches, resorts and green hills, Ischia is also home to the incredible Castello Aragonese, a fortress perched atop a hill overlooking the area and offering great views. You can also visit museums, churches and spend some quality time at the lake.

If your budget is low, you should know that cheap hotels in Ischia are quite easy to come by. Of course, there are 5 star resorts where the prices are high. However, there are plenty of 3-star hotels where you can enjoy thermal pools, spa treatments and save some money. It doesn’t really matter where you decide to stay on the island since the public transport (or walking) can help you get from one place to another.

You should also keep in mind that the warm weather lasts between April and October, with July and August being the peak tourist season. That’s when the island is very crowded and the prices are at their highest.

Some of the cheap hotels in Ischia include: Hotel Europa (3-star, located in Ischia Ponte, small pool with natural thermal water, 34 rooms, spa), Hotel Il Nespolo (3-star, located in the city center, TV, phone, AC on request) and Hotel Poggio del Sole (located at the foot of Mount Epomeo, AC, phone, TV, balcony or terrace).
