There may not be songs written about every city in Brazil, but that does not mean that only the ones in songs are worth visiting. Florianopolis, for example, is the capital of the state of Santa Catarina – and it offers some of the most beautiful beaches in the entire country. So whether you can spell it or pronounce it or get it to rhyme with anything in a poem, this is definitely a spot you will want to put on your list of places to visit in Brazil. The main thing you need to know about Florianopolis before you plan your trip, however, is that it is almost two cities. Half of the city is on the mainland while the other half lies on Santa Catarina Island – and you can probably figure out which is the nicer half.
