Cannes may be best known around the world as the site of a major international film festival, but that reputation as a destination for the rich and famous carries through to the rest of the year as well. This beach resort city may not actually have the nicest beaches on the Cote d'Azur, but they are nice enough to enjoy while visiting, and there are other reasons to stay in Cannes as well. As you might expect, the hotels tend to run in the high-end categories, but there are some cheap hotels in Cannes which you can find as well.

While people who are staying in Cannes for longer periods of time can save money by renting an apartment, most people who are only in town for a few days still choose to stay in a hotel. During the famous film festival - and the other events which take place in the city throughout the year - it may be difficult to find an available room in even the cheap hotels in Cannes, but otherwise there are lots of budget accommodation options for you to choose from for your vacation. Although you may not find truly cheap hotels right on the beach, you would do well to try to find a hotel that allows you to walk to the places you want to go in town rather than drive, as getting through the city in a car can be a frustrating experience.

Clearly, the beaches of this French Riviera city are one of its main draws, although most of the beaches in Cannes are actually privately owned. This does not mean you cannot enjoy them, it just means you must pay to do so! If you plan to spend your entire day at the beach, the hefty admission fee (which usually includes a beach chair and umbrella) can be worth it.
