Cheap Hotels in Birmingham
While most travelers might stick to the mega-metropolis of London and think they understand England, those who wish to explore more of the places which are considered the real England – where the majority of people are locals, not tourists – would do well to spend time in Birmingham. This West Midlands city is the second most populous in the country, and yet is extremely pleasant to visit. Be sure to book a cheap hotel in Birmingham in advance, though, as British Pound does not leave much room for splurging on accommodation.
As with many cities in England, Birmingham has accommodation options in all price ranges, from a few hostels for backpackers and truly budget travlers right up to the big five-star international chain hotels. In between, however, there are also lots of cheap hotels in Birmingham which you can choose from. And although the city is large, you will want to try to stay closer to the areas you are planning to visit. Central Birmingham is a good place to start, as it is where many of the area attractions are and also is well-connected via public transport.
While Birmingham does not boast the list of world famous attractions that a city like London or Paris does, it is still home to several nice museums and art galleries, some interesting architecture, and cathedrals and churches. The city is also full of trees and green spaces, which help it feel less industrial. What is more, Birmingham is criss-crossed by a series of canals, though these are very unlike the Venetian canals and you will not mistake Birmingham for Venice.
Some of the cheap hotels in Birmingham you should consider are the Comfort Inn Birmingham (in the city center, 40 rooms, near the train station), the Britannia Hotel (in the city center, 195 rooms, nice on-site restaurant), the Paragon Hotel (in the city center, in an historic building, 250 rooms), and The Birmingham Hotel (2 miles from Birmingham city center, 52 rooms, on-site restaurant, near Bull Ring Shopping Center).
