Cheap Hotels in Baltimore
Baltimore is the largest city in Maryland, but not the capital – though it is arguably the tourist capital of the state. It boasts a scenic position on the Chesapeake Bay and is also close to the nation’s capital of Washington D.C. And while there are probably other cities on the East Coast of the United States that command more tourist attention than this one, there are (thankfully) plenty of cheap hotels in Baltimore for those who do make the trip.
In addition to the appeal of Baltimore’s picturesque downtown, the city has a rich history with many ties to important points in the building of the United States. Among other things, this is the city where Francis Scott Key wrote the words to the “Star Spangled Banner,” and was where the first soldier died during the Civil War. If you are staying in one of the cheap hotels in Baltimore that is located downtown, you will be able to take in all this history through the many museums that are in the area.
The beautiful Chesapeake Bay provides not just a pretty focal point for the city, it is a working port. The harbor area is a major tourist draw, and during nicer weather you may even get lucky with live music going on outdoors. Baltimore is also home to two major sports teams – baseball and football – so check whether there are any home games during your visit. Baltimore is more than a tourist attraction, however, as it is a busy working city with several world-class hospitals and universities.
Some of the cheap hotels in Baltimore worth looking into are Baltimore Marriott Waterfront (near Inner Harbor, 733 rooms, swimming pool, fitness center, internet available), Baltimore Marriott Inner Harbor at Camden Yards (walking distance to Inner Harbor and National Aquarium, 490 rooms, internet available, laundry service), Sheraton Baltimore City Center Hotel (near the Convention Center, fitness center, outdoor pool, on-site restaurant, free breakfast, internet available), and Sheraton Inner Harbor Hotel (337 rooms, on-site restaurant, free breakfast, WiFi available, indoor pool).
