Cheap Hotels in Atlantic City
Atlantic City has long been a popular tourist destination on the Jersey Shore, known primarily these days for its legal gambling, beach and boardwalk. Because it is such a prime vacation hotspot, finding cheap hotels in Atlantic City is not always as easy as you think it might be. You want to be as close to the beachfront as possible, since that is where you will be spending the majority of your time, but of course the hotels right on the beach are the most expensive.
The good news is that there are cheap hotels in Atlantic City, they just may not have views of the beach. But as long as you do not mind walking a bit to get to the main sights, you should be fine. This city was, after all, founded as a tourist attraction – so there is no shortage of hotel rooms to be found! Downtown Atlantic City and the famous boardwalk are easily navigable on foot, so you should also have no trouble getting around once you have found a hotel in or near the city center.
Atlantic City’s boardwalk is, locals will be proud to declare, the oldest boardwalk in the country. It stretches for four miles, and connects with most of the city’s casinos as well as lots of hotels, shops, restaurants, and resorts. So in addition to being a tourist attraction in and of itself, it is also a busy thoroughfare for foot traffic. The closer you are to the boardwalk, the better able you will be to get around on foot.
All of the major casinos in Atlantic City are also hotels, most of which offer luxury resort-quality experiences. In the low season (late fall into the winter) you can often find discounted rates at these casino hotels, and those are worth checking out. Otherwise, you can choose from casino hotels along the boardwalk or other hotels that are just geared toward tourists and not gamblers. Some of the cheap hotels in Atlantic City that are worth looking at are Resorts Atlantic City (a 27-storey tower hotel with a casino, health club and spa), Days Inn Atlantic City Boardwalk (budget hotel with 107 rooms on boardwalk next door to Tropicana Casino), The Irish Pub & Inn (Irish pub atmosphere with great rates and cheap eats), and two Harrahs casino hotels – Bally’s Atlantic City and Showboat Atlantic City.
