Flamingo Hotel

If you are looking for the classic Vegas experience, the Flamingo Hotel and Casino is your best bet! The Flamingo is one of the oldest, and most authentic, Vegas hotels still standing on the strip. It is also the best value and the best location on the strip.

The Flamingo was opened in 1946, and it was only the third hotel to open on the strip. It was opened by Bugsy Siegel, a famous mobster who owned many of the Las Vegas hotels. At that time is was named the best and most luxurious resort of the west. It was the very first luxury hotel on the strip, and some would say that the Flamingo hotel started the trend that made Las Vegas what it is today.

Now over 50 years later there are many luxury hotels. After Flamingo was finished there were many hotels such as the Tropicana and New Frontier, all of which have been imploded and replaced by larger, more expensive, and more elegant hotels. While the new hotels are nice, the absence of old Las Vegas leaves some tourists feeling something missing. The Flamingo is a reminder of what Las Vegas used to be.

However, The Flamingo is by no means outdated. The hotel keeps up with rousing entertainment such as Toni Braxton and Donnie and Marie Osmond. There are several restaurants and cafes including an amazing award winning steak house. It also offers a new Burlesque review called “X”.

The grounds of the Flamingo are simply amazing. There is a gorgeous tropical habitat that features foliage from around the world as well as wildlife such as koi, turtles, swans, ducks, and of course flamingos. After walking past this tropical paradise you will find the incredible pool area open to guests only. There are 4 large pools and two hot tubs, all of which are surrounded in a tropical paradise with waterfalls and grottos. If you are looking for something adults only, the hotel now offers Pool Go. This just opened March of 2009 and features an adult’s only pool area that is clothing optional. At all pools you can enjoy private cabanas, waiter service, and towel service.

For those wanting to go to Vegas on a moderate budget, the Flamingo is the best there is. The location is right in the middle of the strip so you can walk to Paris, Venetian, Monte Carlo, The Wynn, Luxor, Caesars, Palace, and all of the main hotels. Plus there really is no reason to leave the hotel itself as there are many things to do. From enticing entertainment, world class dining, ample gaming, and tons of shopping, this hotel will really give you the most bang for your buck!
